4WD-Specific Checks
- Differential and transfer case condition, including fluid colour and any metallic contamination
- Chassis rails checked for rust, dents or evidence of prior off-road impact
- Underbody protection plates and their fixings, if fitted
- Towbar wiring and mounting condition, especially on vehicles advertised as "never towed"
- Sand, mud or salt residue in wheel arches and underbody as evidence of genuine off-road or beach use
Aftermarket Modifications
Lift kits, upgraded suspension, snorkels and bull bars are common on 4WDs and aren't automatically a concern — but poor-quality installation can be. We note modification quality and whether it looks professionally fitted.
